The music being played in the lobby was composed by Jeff Boynton, and was either commissioned or adapted for live
performance by Rudy Perez. The creation of this music began shortly after a time when Jeff was contemplating re-
emerging as an active artist following a long hiatus. This was due to his future wife, Mona Jean Cedar, expressing an
interest in collaboration while she was a member of the Rudy Perez Performance Ensemble. The post-modern living
legacy of Mr. Perez’ work, and his association with the Judson Dance Theater in New York City in the 1960s (and
indirectly thus with Merce Cunningham and John Cage) became the inspiration for Jeff to return to creating experimental
electronic music using modern tools, but in the spirit of Musique Concrète, one of the most popular electronic music
techniques used during the Judson era.
